A seven year old Foley boy was flown by medical helicopter from Mobile to Birmingham Monday night after fire officials say he was burned in a flash fire.

Relatives identify the victim as Billy Mann.

His mother tells news five that he is improving; but still listed in critical condition.

She thanks everyone for their prayers and support.

Foley fire officials say he was rushed from his home in the 16-thousand block of Rhodes Lane yesterday afternoon by medical helicopter to USA Medical Center.

They say he was burned in a flash fire involving gasoline.

Foley Fire Chief James Hinton said, "Flash fire is basically when there are just enough vapors in the atmosphere for the fire to ignite and flash, but it doesn't continue to burn.  There was probably just enough of it (gasoline) on the ground where it hadn't pooled yet.  It had spilled enough so that the vapors were rising up so you get the flash from the vapors, but there's not enough product on the ground to maintain combustion."

Officials at USA MedicalCenter say David Mann was listed in critical condition there.

Family members say he was taken later by medical helicopter to a hospital in Birmingham.
