When a former Chickasaw police officer goes on trial for rape, jurors will hear testimony from the victim's best friend.
Tuesday, the judge decided that statements 11-year-old Rebecca McEvoy made to her friend will be allowed in court.
Bob Ingle is accused of raping and sexually abusing the girl, who also happens to be his step-daughter.
This case is complicated because McEvoy died in a car crash before Ingle could go to trial.
His attorney argued that the case should be thrown out because Ingle has the right to confront his accuser and any statements allowed in court would be hearsay.
Allowing the best friend to testify, McEvoy's family says it's a small victory.
"We just hope that everything starts speeding up now. It's been too long. We've waited too long. A lot of stuff that we'd hope would go forth hasn't, but that's okay because God sees all and the Lord will reveal the truth and the truth will set people free and therefore bob ingle will be behind bars where he belongs," said cousin Theresa Jordan.
Bob Ingle goes on trial in September.

I hope this nightmare will be over for you and the family soon. It is difficult for me to understand laws which would protect the accused person by not allowing crucial evidence. God bless all of you.

WE ARE SO VERY HAPPY THAT BECCA’S VOICE WILL AT LEAST HAVE A CHANCE 2 BE HEARD THRU OTHERS!!i AM UPSET THAT THE POLICE REPORT & DHR REPORTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BUT GRATEFUL THAT WE DO AT LEAST GET SOME ANSWERS & NOT ANOTHER DELAY!!WE DO GET 2 GO 2 TRIAL ON SEPT 22!!!PRAY FOR THE WELL BEING OF ALL THE OTHER CHILDREN & THAT JUSTICE WILL COME FORTH ON BECCA’S BEHALF!!!
