BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - When surface temperatures reach asustained 40 degrees, workers will install traffic striping on the
new Bay Saint Louis Bridge, the final step before all four lanes
are opened.
Mississippi transportation officials say surface temperatures
must climb back to at least 40 degrees before the paint will stick
to the road.
Granite Archer Western, the joint venture company building the
266 million dollar bridge, has a deadline of January 5th to have
all four lanes open.
Transportation Commissioner Wayne Brown says the striping work
will take little more than a day to complete.
He says all four lanes of the U.S. Highway 90 bridge could be
open as soon as today (Friday).
Brown says work on the bridge, such as removing the temporary
striping, will continue even after all lanes are open.
