Mobile police say it was around five o'clock in the afternoon when they received a call that an eight month old baby girl was found dead in her father's Dodge Durango while parked across the street from the Little Flower Catholic School. Police say the baby died while in the care and custody of her father, who came to pick up his two other children from school.
"He has other children that attend the daycare, I do not think this particular child was a student at this daycare, "said, John Tyson, Mobile District Attorney.
A neighbor who runs a daycare a few houses down from the school, did not want to go on camera but told News 5 that the father had dropped his two children off this morning and returned this afternoon to pick them up, when he discovered that he had left the eight month old in the car all day.
Mobile District Attorney John Tyson says the father, who's name has not been released, was not taken into custody.
"The father is at a local hospital receiving treatment for his emergency,"said, Tyson.
Police could not say whether the emergency was due to a previous health problem or something that occurred this afternoon. But that the mother of the eight month old is with the father at the hospital.
"It's a tough, tough chore for mom and dad and everybody concerned," said, Tyson.
