Police in Ocean Springs, Mississippi are investigating the death of a nine-month old girl after she was left in an SUV.
Officers say Thursday, the father of the child was supposed to drop her off at daycare, but forgot and went on to work..
Investigators say the child was left inside the vehicle for at least seven hours.
When rescue crews arrived to get her out, the little girl was unresponsive.
The news of the tragedy has been the talk of the city.
"My heart goes out to them and I'll say a prayer for them that they'll be able to cope with this," said Helen Pendas of Ocean Springs.
"Even if he's not used to be the one that drop off the child, write a note and stick it on your steering wheel if you have to but for God sake!," said Lei Small of Ocean Springs.
The father of the child has not been charged.
Ocean Springs Police say they will turn over their findings to a grand jury sometime next month.

Actually, I know them personally, and they are nice, loving, churchgoing people. The mom is a teacher, and the father works at a bank. They are otherwise responsible parents who have suffered a tremendous tragedy, and you are obviously lesser people for judging them. Get off your high horses. I can’t believe how self absorbed you people are, and how you can have such little self awareness. You MUST know that you look like callous hypocrites. Many, MANY parents have made egregious mistakes when raising children. You don’t know what else that family was going through when the tragedy occurred.

You should ALL be ashamed. The father has tried to kill himself twice already; he is completely eaten with grief.

But yeah, go ahead and cast your stones. I’m sure it makes you feel better. However, you all disgust me.

Try compassion.

I can tell you how parents forget their children....they are so involved/wrapped up in their own lives whether it’s work or social life or other things that the children are the last things on their minds. Notice how many toys on the market, Gameboys, etc. occupies a child so the parent doesn’t have to?  It like this: We can have pets that we take care of or we can animals out in the yard.  Same thing with our precious children: We can have little one we nurture into wonderful citizens or we can have these children who have virtually reared themselves to be whatever. Today, many parents are too busy to remember they have children.

The father has not been charged??  Why not??!!  He killed his child!  How in the world do you “forget” your child is in the car with you??

I’m really not sure how a PARENT and I stress that word:  can forget that they have a child and that he/she is in the vehicle, maybe someone can tell me. How can you FORGET? HOW?
