Police in Ocean Springs, Mississippi are investigating the death of a nine-month old girl after she was left in an SUV.
Officers say Thursday, the father of the child was supposed to drop her off at daycare, but forgot and went on to work..
Investigators say the child was left inside the vehicle for at least seven hours.
When rescue crews arrived to get her out, the little girl was unresponsive.
The news of the tragedy has been the talk of the city.
"My heart goes out to them and I'll say a prayer for them that they'll be able to cope with this," said Helen Pendas of Ocean Springs.
"Even if he's not used to be the one that drop off the child, write a note and stick it on your steering wheel if you have to but for God sake!," said Lei Small of Ocean Springs.
The father of the child has not been charged.
Ocean Springs Police say they will turn over their findings to a grand jury sometime next month.

Ok I am very close to both parents I live next door to them, the father has NEVER tried to commit suicide that is just a lie!!! This was a horrible accident and I pray that none of you ever make a mistake and you have to suffer like this father is suffering.  How dare you judge him...you do not know him...it was an accident...he loved his little girl so much and would never have done anything to hurt her...What don’t you understand about the word ACCIDENT.....I guess all of you are perfect parents and never made a mistake.  Well good for you… I think you are all idiots...and to you that posted that you know them...bull! you don’t know them..Both parents are awesome Christian parents and the Lord is the only thing that is helping them at this horrible time in their life!!!  I am praying for all of ya’ll that you will always walk without making a mistake!!  You just better watch how harshly you judge it will always come back on you!

Is this a place for namecalling and argueing, or to post comments about the poor baby that was left to suffer, beyond our imagination, in a hot car. There is no excuse in this world that the man could come up with. If he had tried to commit suside twice why did the Mother trust him to be a responsible parent? I can only pray to GOD that that poor innocent child did not suffer too long. Anyway she is with Jesus now he will take care of her.

Has anybody stopped to think about what the poor baby felt during those longs hours?  How much suffering it must have gone through?  My mother left me in a hot car when I was a child (on purpose). I know the suffering!  My children are grown adults now, but when they were MY RESPONSIBILITY they were as much a part of my life as putting on my clothes, taking a breath, having my heart beat......I had to be responsible for their actions, but more so mine own actions.....why can’t we all?

Growandlearn - you’re obviously looking at this from an emotional point of view.  So here’s a situation for you to think about.  What if you trusted him to drop off YOUR kid at the daycare, and then this happened, would you be so understanding?  It’s easy to feel sorry for someone and be forgiving if it doesn’t directly affect you, but try having that sympathy when it happens to you.  I’m not saying HE committed murdered, but this seems to be some sort of trend these days, so who knows when it’s a copycat.  It might be manslaughter though… he was IN CHARGE of her welfare!!!  Suicidal tendencies DO NOT excuse what happened.  You say you are compassionate, where is the compassion for the little girl?

My point is, WHERE DOES IT STOP? Should a parent be prosecuted if they accidentally lock their child in a car and it DOESN’T die? Is it the mere act of irresponsibility, or the death itself? There are TONS of tragic accidents that happen daily, where the parents are not prosecuted. Also, I believe that a parent falling asleep and leaving a door unlocked IS similar to leaving your child in a parked car. EVERY CASE SHOULD BE HANDLED INDIVIDUALLY. INCLUDING THIS ONE.

But either way, I refuse to argue with you, as it is a difference of opinion, and I don’t believe that you are right. Likewise, you don’t believe that I am right. We are not going to change each other’s minds. I’m sure you’re very nice. I’m sure you’re superfantastic people, but I’m not going to waste any more time arguing with you. Obviously, no one’s mind is going to change on a message board. This is stupid.

And should you ever climb down off of your high horses, and INADVERTENTLY suffer such a tragedy, I will be right here defending you, and hoping for your peace.

Joey, “might be irresponsible” was actually CONCEDING that it was irresponsible, referencing a previous post. You just read it incorrectly because you’re not intelligent, and obviously have trouble at inferring simple statements, because you take everything literally instead of using CONTEXT clues:) Moron.

The rest of you are simple minded for thinking that every parent that suffers an unfortunate tragedy is a murder. As I said, I know the family, and they are good, hard working people, active in their church, and productive members of society. Also, as I said, the father has tried to commit suicide twice already, and is on watch. But I guess you guys won’t be happy until he ACTUALLY commits suicide, because you are apparently out for blood. Mob mentality doesn’t make you intelligent. Just predictable, stupid, and less compassionate.

He may have been irresponsible, and directly caused his child’s death, but I can tell you that he NEVER would have judged you if you had suffered such misfortune. He would have mourned for you, and prayed for your family.

But keep on stone casting. In fact, maybe you can all have some sort of stone casting contest. Yay, you all win.
Duh.

I agree with you that driving while drunk is also stupid.  But the laws say if you kill somebody while driving drunk you go to jail for negligent homicide.  You also spend time in jail if you DON’t kill somebody.  Maybe just a night or two but it’s still something.  Parents won’t be held accountable if the do everything reasonable to protect their child, but they should be held accountable if they don’t.  Therefore your arguments about a kid falling in a pool, etc. is ludicrous, although in certain situations, they should be held accountable there too.  In this case, the father was completely negligent in caring for his baby girl.  Check out this link and tell me if THIS idiot should go to jail…

growandlearn—wake up and smell the coffee yes, parents do these things deliberately to their children.  Lock your doors and window, if your child is up you should be up.  Responsible parenting.  You should be held responsible for what your child(ren) do and what you do to your child(ren).

Murder is murder.

How can you forget that you’ve put a child in the car with you.  Even if the child is sleeping, are you that stupid.  Come on people, it is murder.

Press murder charges even premeditated murder charges, usually when a parent leaves a child in a vehicle, they know exactly what they have done and they meant to do it.
