No longer a free woman... the suspect in an abandoned baby case turned herself in Thursday evening. It was one week ago when police say a woman-Jennifer St. John gave birth and tried to kill her newborn baby girl by leaving her in a toilet in St. Helens, Washington.The official charge for 21-year old Jennifer Annette St. John is "attempted aggravated murder." She is in a cell at the Columbia County Jail tonight accused of what the baby's family calls "the unthinkable". Led away in handcuffs is 21-year old Jennifer St. John the mother accused of giving birth to a baby girl and then dumping the newborn into a toilet. Reporter Joel Iwanaga spoke with a relative of the father. "None of us can believe she was pregnant, so shocking." Jennifer St. John's booking photo moments after her arrival to the Columbia County Jail on Thursday. It was one week ago - Valentine's Day at the Meadowpark Health and Specialty Care Facility in St. Helens where she worked as a Nursing Assistant. Nurses made the horrific discovery. The baby wasn't breathing, but thankfully was revived by one of the nurses. Police say Jennifer St. John confessed to trying to kill her baby leaving family members asking why. As of Friday, St. John is officially charged with attempted aggravated murder.
