AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of anAuburn University freshman who was found suffering from a gunshot
wound several miles away from the campus.

Lauren Burk of Marietta, Ga., was found wounded on Alabama
Highway 147 and taken to East Alabama Medical Center, where she
died.
Auburn police said they received a call about an injured woman
around 9 p.m. Tuesday and the call led them to Burk. They said the
18-year-old's Honda Civic was found engulfed in flames at the
campus about 30 minutes later.
There have been no arrests. Police said there's insufficient
information to assume there's any additional danger to others.
The police presence on campus has been increased but an Auburn
University spokeswoman said no emergency measures have been
implemented.
