A new lead in a five year old case involving the disappearance of one local woman had folks in Atmore talking. Atmore Buzzing Over Missing Woman’s Case

Melinda McGhee was last seen in her Atmore home almost five years ago. Today (Friday), the Escambia County Sheriff's Office followed up on a tip about the unsolved case.
Sheriff Grover Smith with the Escambia County Alabama Sheriff's Office says McGhee was 31 years old when she went missing. Authorities say the mother of two was asleep at her Atmore home on Gravel Lake Road when she was assaulted and then abducted on March 24th, 2003.
Authorities say McGhee hasn't been seen or heard from since.
The Sheriff's Office says a tip lead them to a vacant lot on Jack Road in Escambia County Alabama, it's off Atmosphere Road. Authorities,including the Sheriff's Office, a local volunteer fire department and the FBI searched two septic tanks there, but McGhee's body wasn't found.
"There's no indication at all that she or any other person was in the septic tanks and we looked in to the old one and a new system and pumped them out completely got down in the tanks, sifted through them, "said Sheriff Grover Smith with the Escambia County Alabama Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Smith adds while there have been numerous suspects throughout this investigation, no arrests have been made.

You all need to get your facts straight before you print things.

Printing the wrong address has put stress on the family that does live there.

Melinda did not live on Gravel Lake Road.

She lived on Kent Road in Poarch.

I agree with you rodandink, Melinda is my 2nd cousin...My grandmother is Melinda’s aunt...People need to think before they open their mouths!!

I’m very close to this family, and I would really hope in the future people would stop, and think before calling the family, and asking questions that you put yourself in there place.
Please let the law contact them with any news they have before you do.It’s very hard on all the family., and close freinds.
