"They served for our country and I'm happy cause we get to be free," says fifth grader Howard Hadley. He was among more than a hundred elementary students from Mobile and Baldwin County taking part in honoring people they know.
"My great grandfather was in World War II." Blakely Eckerman is in the fourth grade but she knows exactly why she is here. "A lot of people risk their life to go out there and fight for our country and everything. A lot of people died."
All the fanfare and tributes are a fitting reminder for kids like Brandon Williams, of those who have come before and those overseas now. "They can honor veterans that died and fought for our freedom. That's what I think about it," says Williams.
