MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Today is an official state holiday inAlabama for the birthday of Confederate President Jefferson Davis.
Tuesday will be the 200th anniversary of Davis' birth, but state
law sets the holiday on the first Monday in June.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans are planning a ceremony at noon
on the Capitol grounds in Montgomery to recognize Davis. State
Commander Leonard Wilson says more activities honoring Davis are
planned for June 14.
