Governor Bob Riley joined officials from the postal service to unveil the new Alabama state flag stamp Tuesday morning in Montgomery.

The new stamp is part of the U.S. Postal Service's new "Flags of Our Nation" stamp series.

"This stamp is going to mean a lot to us," Governor Riley said. "It's going to mean a lot to us every time I get a letter that has (the flag) on it, it's going to remind me what that flag means. And it's going to say something about the people of Alabama."

The Alabama flag stamp is one of ten released so far. Ten more are scheduled to be unveiled this fall. Besides the flag, each
stamp design includes artwork that provides a snapshot view of the geography or culture of the state.
