TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns has been
arrested on drug charges.
Authorities said the Mississippi native was arrested Tuesday in
Tuscaloosa and taken to the county jail. He was charged with
selling cocaine and possessing ecstasy pills that officers
allegedly found at his home.
Undercover investigators allegedly bought drugs from the Crimson
Tide senior.
Police did not immediately return a call and it wasn't known if
Johns had a lawyer.
Johns played running back and receiver last season as a junior,
and he moved to linebacker in the spring.
There was no immediate comment from Alabama coach Nick Saban on
the arrest, but the school is working on a statement.

Well we all need a wake up call occasionally to sort of get us out of the ruts we dig for our selves. In all fairness I think most if not all of the problems now with the TIDE goes back before coach Saban. The previous coaches and the Athletic faculty seem to have had a” this kid is gonna play regardless of his back ground or other activities after games”. I think this team is still a viable team and will probably stumble thru a few games this season but still capable of doing a few upsets during this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Tsunami coming out of Tuscaloosa within the next few years instead of a tide. ROLL TIDE!

“Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event. It may be 9-11, which sort of changed the spirit of America relative to catastrophic events. Pearl Harbor kind of got us ready for World War II, or whatever, and that was a catastrophic event.” -Sa7en

This team, coach, program, and its players are a joke.

Such a shame, with a good looking future ahead of him to do this is just plain stupidity. No excuse for his type stuff (if its true) All you have to do these days is look at the front page of the paper or watch the news and see what type of future you have in drugs these days… not very promising.

The word on ESPN is that Johns has been dismissed, and rightly so if what investigators say is true. 10 arrests in one year for this program is just absurd. Saban inherited many of these problem cases and can’t make the right choices for them.  All he can do is drive a hard line and not tolerate such behavior.  I want to believe things will settle down when some of these guys from the previous admin graduate or go to jail one or the other.

Another opportunity thrown away. It is mind boggling how many young people would have taken that opportunity to the max. What was Johns thinking? Very sad.
