Alabama Department of Education is adding 100 High Schools to the statewide ACCESS distance learning program.
The program will allow students to take AP courses and certain electives even if the courses are not offered by their school.
"Nothing has ever leveled the playing field like ACCESS," Governor Bob Riley said. "Now through video conferencing you can have a teacher in one part of the state teaching an Advance Placement course in another part of the state. This finally is going to give every school in the state opportunity to teach any subject to any child."
By the end of the month, there will be 170 schools with access to the ACCESS program.
