For the first time in five months, the Marroquin family reunites with a little help from modern technology.
Leidy Marroquin, five year old Kaitlyn and 8 year old Alexis spent just over an hour visiting with SSGT. Staina Marroquin stationed in Iraq.
"The first day of school is coming up for the kids and we talked about that, he's a little disappointed he's not going to be here," says Leidy.
The video conference is all part of an anniversary gift to his wife, seven thousand miles away.
The video conference almost didn't happen. It was originally scheduled yesterday but a gas leak at the school forced the evacuation of the school and cancelled the call.
With the time difference Sgt. Marroquin most likely went to bed after the call, his daughter says he will have sweet dreams. "About us, my momma and my Daddy together."
There is only one dream his son Alexis has and that is that he comes home soon. "I really got to see him I saw him in real life and when he comes I get to see him and hug him."
The video conference took place at St. Paul’s Catholic School and was made possible by the Freedom Calls foundation. This is SSGT. Marroquin’s second tour of duty in Iraq. He should be home sometime in October.
