The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office arrested an elderly man for attempted murder. Patricia Williams called 911 Sunday night to say Frederick Gafford, who she's lived with the last 17 years, shot her. When deputies arrived at the home on Troon Drive East in Niceville, they say the 84-year-old Gafford was in his garage with a gun.
Earler that night, Williams says Gafford picked her up from the airport. She thought he might have been drunk. When they got home, Williams says Gafford walked inside, got a gun from his computer desk, pointed it at her and pulled the trigger.
The bullet grazed Williams' scalp. She ran out to a neighbor's house to call for help.
Gafford said he doesn't remember anything that happened.
