The Escambia County Sheriff's Office says Kristie Callahan, the manager of a Tom Thumb convenience store, confessed to stealing more than $76,000 worth of lottery tickets.
Callahan's money making scheme unraveled when the Lottery Commission called the General Manager of the Tom Thumb at 1504 N. Blue Angel Parkway. The GM started digging around and the paper trail led back to Callahan.
Deputies say Callahan stole lottery tickets over a 5 month period and then tried to cover her tracks by sending falsified paperwork to the Lottery Commission. When asked why she did it, Callahan told deputies she was depressed and having financial trouble. Because of that financial trouble, it is unlikely Callahan will be able to post her $20,000 bond.
