Mobile police have arrested three men and charged them with attempted murder in connection with the shooting of a 6-year-old boy.

Six-year-old A.J. Ezell was hit by three bullets Monday night when someone opened fire on Gloria York Avenue in Toulminville. A.J. and his mother, Sherrell Allen, were sitting at a stop sign when the bullets started flying.

23-year-old Tyrone Smith, who was sitting in another car, was hit in the face and upper chest.

Shortly before dawn Wednesday, police arrested 23-year-old Cedric Morrissette, 21-year-old Trevante Smith and 28-year-old Nicholas Roberson. All three are charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Detectives said the shooting stemmed from a domestic argument in the Roger Williams housing development.

Morisette is no stranger to Mobile police. He was arrested in February for a string of arson cases. Police say Morisette set three fires on three separate days at an apartment complex on Eagle Drive. That case will be sent to a grand jury.

Ezell and Tyrone Smith are recovering from gunshot wounds at USA Medical Center.

KxVx----I never said they intended to hit him, it is just so sad that they were so reckless (any way you slice it) and a poor innocent child got hurt.

I’m not saying they’re not responsible, but AEMINDaphne seemed like (s)he thought the boy was the intended target.

Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize noone has read the fully story on this yet:
“Police were still trying to determine the intended victim Tuesday, she said.
Jones described the shooting as the apparent result of a domestic dispute.
Allen said Tuesday night that she did not understand why anyone would be shooting at her and her children. She said she was at a stop sign on Gloria York Avenue when the gunfire began. Two cars were behind her, she said.
The shooter was in the last car, Johnson said, and Smith in the middle one.
Empty shell casings were scattered across about 20 feet of road and grass at the intersection.
“My back seat is just filled with blood and gunshots,” Allen said. “This is the only transportation I have, and I keep thinking, I can’t ride in this car because my son almost died in this car."”

Hmm...so, you’re saying that it was okay for them to be firing an AK-47 in a residential area with children present? (I’m joking with you of course) Regardless though, they did in fact HIT a child and could have killed that child as a result of their reckless and dangerous behavior. Why were they riding around with an AK-47 in their vehicle to begin with? Who were they firing at? WHY were they firing at that person? If their intentions were not to kill someone, then why not just use a water pistol or Nerf gun? It all comes back to making people RESPONSIBLE for THEIR ACTIONS regardless of what or who they intended to hit.

I don’t think they were AIMING for the boy. Have you ever fired an AK-47? They shoot three bullets for each trigger pull unless they’re set on full auto, then they just spray. I think he’s one of those “innocent bystanders” that nobody wants to be.
