George County sheriff's deputies are waiting for autopsy results to determine what happened Tuesday night at a home in Barton, Mississippi, a rural community south of Lucedale.
Sheriff's deputies were called to 119 Cooper Extension around 9:45 Tuesday night.
Jody Donald, 25, and his brother Michael Donald, 28, were both found dead. One body was discovered in the foyer and another in a hallway leading to a bedroom. The brothers' 60-year-old father, Jimmy Donald, was found clinging to life with a gunshot wound to his head. He was airlifted to USA Medical Center where he is in critical condition.
"He may hold all of our answers," said George County Sheriff Gary Wilford, who says investigators hope to talk to Jimmy Donald about what happened in the house. "That along with the autopsy reports is basically all we're waiting on," said Wilford.
News Five spoke with a neighbor who lives across the street from the Donald family. Mary Katherine Taylor says she knew something was wrong early in the day when she saw cars speeding up and down her road.
"I wish to God I had called the sheriff's department," said Taylor. "I feel guilty. I might could have saved their life," she said.
Taylor says she rushed to the Donald's house when she saw officers and the ambulances. She says she talked to Jody Donald's girlfriend, who was inside the home when the shooting happened.
"She was just crying and tears just pouring, and she said my boyfriend shot his daddy in the head and then he shot his brother," said Taylor.
Sheriff Wilford says five people, including the deceased, where in the house during the shooting, though none are considered suspects.
The bodies are in Jackson, Mississippi for an autopsy.

Wanted For Murder

The neighbor does not know what she is talking about. She’s crazy herself. Jody Donald only has one girlfriend and it sure wasn’t whoever they said. So people need to quit gossiping when they don’t know nothing. You can’t always believe what the news say. Its just all “hear say.”
