Alabama State Troopers pulled over a driver yesterday on Interstate 20/59 in Tuscaloosa County. While searching his car, troopers found $244,000 in a hidden compartment. The driver, who denied knowing anything about the cash, was not charged. The vehicle had Texas license tags and Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Martha Earnhardt said the department intends to seize the money in forfeiture proceedings.The traffic stop was one of more than 15,000 made since the week long statewide traffic enforcement blitz called "Take Back Our Highways" started Monday.
