Legislature has been gaveled into session.
Speaker Seth Hammett called the Alabama House into session at
noon today. Lieutenant Governor Jim Folsom Junior gaveled the
Senate into session at noon.
Legislators will be in session for about the next three and a
half months. Their main job will be funding education and
government services even though less money is expected to be
available to spend.
Governor Riley will give his annual "state-of-the-state"
address to lawmakers at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in the old House Chamber
at the state Capitol.
