MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Senate has passed a bill
that would ban smoking in most public places in the state,
including workplaces, restaurants and athletic events.
The bill passed the Senate 28-3 Wednesday and now goes to the
House. A similar statewide smoking ban was approved Wednesday
morning by the House Government Operations committee on a voice
vote.
The American Cancer Society says 26 states currently have some
sort of smoke-free statewide law.
The Senate bill is sponsored by Sen. Vivian Davis Figures of
Mobile, who suffers from bronchitis and asthma and has been
fighting for a statewide smoking ban for more than 10 years. In the
House, the legislation is being pushed by equally passionate Rep.
Mary Sue McClurkin of Pelham, who has survived bouts with breast
and thyroid cancer.

The new bill states you can smoke 10 feet away from anywhere you are not allowed to smoke. Am I the only one who read it?

I have stated my opinion, I have quoted facts. You choose not to accept them.  You are in a minority. Hopefully, the people who are made ill by your second hand smoke will become more of a minority because, YOU LOSE. Take a deeper breath and lose more, just don’t exhale it where I have to smell you and get sick from your addiction.

As for carbon monoxide emissions, lawn mowers produce more than cars.

Obesity is also a huge problem and nothing is being done about that. There will be more obesity related deaths than smoking in the coming years and what is anyone doing about it? Nothing!

I’m with you on that Jack.

We win, we win, we win, is that all you can say? How ignorant are you? This is a discussion board and just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t make them wrong. Grow up!

Is it not Ridiculous that Alabama is Considering a Ban on smoking before they consider vehicle Emissions Testing Requirements.

Considering the amount of Carbon monoxide in a Cigarette is minuscule compared to what is emitted from the stinky hoopties that are everywhere in Alabama. Because Alabama as no emissions laws for vehicles.

I would much rather be in the car next to a carload of smokers at a stop light than sitting next to one car that is filling the street with throat burning smoke.

We win, you lose. Who said anything about being christian? Beeeep, you lose as you hack up a gross brown fleck of lung. Too bad you can’t smell how bad you really smell.

IT ends with US winning. Inhale deep and die. (Good christian comeback hmmm ) I don’t see how my choice to smoke is something you have any business over when IT clearly doesn’t affect you, I am sorry that some people are rude about it but that is not everyone. Nor is it fair of you to stereotype that everyone runs around blowing smoke at people.  Lots of people have been smoking since they were young and believe it or not have tried quitting many times.  To wish people death is just plain sick.
