People living in the normally quiet city of Chickasaw are feeling anything but safe while a killer is on the loose. Police responded to what they thought was a traffic accident Sunday night at 6th Avenue and Iroquois Street. But, when they got there, they discovered something much more gruesome, a murder. Police say 29-year-old Benjamin Joseph Martin was found inside a van that had crashed into a utility pole. Police believe Martin was shot while he was driving then crashed. Martin's killer is still out there and police don't have much to go on, "I think someone out there knows the answers and I am just confident that somebody is going to do the noble thing and step forward and provide us the information we need," said Chickasaw Police Sgt. Gerald Thornton. We talked with Martin's family but they did not want to go on camera. An autopsy will be done Tuesday to find out exactly how he died. If you have any information about this murder call Chickasaw Police at (251) 452-0571.
