News Five has exclusively obtained the 911 calls from March 6, 2008 that show the raw emotion that sent the campus into chaos.
The tape includes calls routed through the Mobile Police Department with the first recording coming from a parent.
"My son just called me from Davidson High School. In the gym, there's a boy there with a pistol," said the frantic mother to a dispatcher. "I'm on my way to go get my children. What do you suggest I do? Do they have it under control?"
During the 30 minute tape, several parents and at least two Davidson High School administrators called to report information about the student who walked into the school gym with a gun.
We don't know what was said during the initial 911 call from the school, but a follow up call revealed Jajuan Holmes, 18, fired one shot in the air before turning the gun on himself.
No other students or teachers were injured, but panic on campus followed.
"They're all trying to leave, every body's freaking out," said one caller. "They've got it on lock down. They aren't gonna let anyone go," replied the dispatcher.
Holmes was facing three counts of armed robbery before he pulled the trigger at Davidson High School. School officials say the teen was suspended from school for an unrelated incident and should not have been on campus that day.
Mobile Police did not want to release the 911 tapes. But News 5 obtained them after filing a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

School Suicide Shooter- What Went Wrong?

Not sure how I feel about the 911 tapes, but it is always interesting to hear how the 911 dispatchers react to various situations. Some are very direct and professional. Others seem to be making judgement calls they are not qualified to make under some very dire circumstances and I find that deplorable.
This sounds like it was handled appropriately by the dispatchers and I am talking about some I have heard on the national news that really irked me.
