More than 27,000 people have viewed our story on Miley Cyrus' controversial photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine.

News 5 did a little digging and discovered this is not the first time celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, who was behind Cyrus' photo shoot, has draped a singing star in a bed sheet for Vanity Fair.

The first time, however, it was a 45-year-old diva and not a 15-year-old tween queen. Take a look at this cover of an issue of Vanity Fair from 1989, more than three years before Cyrus was born.

Yep, that's Diana Ross, who was a member of The Supremes before launching a solo career in 1970.

There was no controversy surrounding Ross' photo shoot. But when images from Cyrus' layout starting making rounds on the internet, Cyrus issued this statement -- "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.
I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."

Leibovitz responded by saying she's sorry people have "misinterpreted" the photo. She called it "a simple, classic portrait" that "is very beautiful."

The Disney Channel, which airs Cyrus' TV show "Hannah Montana," has been very critical of Vanity Fair. The network says the article suggests that "a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."

Ironically, Lebovitz took the pictures for Disney's "Year of a Million Dreams" campaign.

What was she thinking and billy to oh i know more money she is a kid star not a grown up she repersent disney

I do not know what the big deal is… Everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. She is a good girl and the public will try and find anything to scrutinize her. Leave her alone before you turn into the next Britney. She is not showing anything in the picture. Her daddy would not let her do anything to hurt her squeeky clean image. Everyone needs to just chill out! We do not need any new Britney or Lindsey Lohans. All the negative publicity gives these young girls issues. She is young coming of age girl. I know there are 15-16 years old girls doing much worse and no one cares!!!!!!!

She’s just a 15 year old girl trying to be grown. Most 15 year old girls would have posed for the shot especially knowing it’s going to be in Vanity Fair, because teenagers think they are grown. That’s why her parents shouldn’t have let the picture be taken of her. She might as well just be a prostitute because she’s being “Pimped” out by everyone around her anyway. Vanity fair is not even marketed to her age group, no grown woman wants to read about Miley Cyrus anyways. If we wanted that, we’d pick up Teen Vogue instead. This is disgusting and her parents should be looked at by child services. The implication of the picture is that she is nude. It’s basically SOFT CORE PORN.

I do not see why the people that had her put a sheet on is not in trouble with “child indangerment”!! What they did is ruin her career as a young nice teen. I was hoping that she would have a better outcome with her life then what is going on with everyone elses....

My question is why did her parents allow this to happen? Although she is a star with megabucks she is still a minor and it should have stopped with the parents. If they did allow it to happen then they should be ashamed! All the pic does is feed this 15 y/o to the dirty old preditors out there.

Evidently photographer Annie Leibovitz isn’t the brightest bulb on the tree if she can’t see the difference in photographing a child in a pose as compared to an adult, or maybe she doesn’t really care as long as the money keeps coming in.
