A father claims his 7-year-old Autistic son was molested at school. Paul Merrell says his little boy was molested last Thursday by two other boys in an Allentown Elementary School bathroom in Semmes. He contacted News 5 for help because he says the situation could have been prevented. Merrell claims it would not have happened if the school had provided his son with an aide. Something, he claims he asked for repeatedly. Merrell says he's even given Allentown doctor's notes that say his son needs an aide at school. Merrell says his son has been traumatized by what happened, "my wife just grabbed him up and hugged him and says you're not in trouble, you know, what's wrong? She told, he told her that, that two little boys got him in the bathroom and they made him do things to them that I really don't want to say on the air," said Merrell. We talked with the school's principal about the allegations, "everything that we know of is being investigated. Again, the claims that you're sharing with me we have not spoken to the parents to know that those are their concerns. An incident did occur on Thursday that we are investigating. I cannot specifically say that that is the incident because again when I talked with you today that was the first that I am hearing of that claim," said Allentown Elementary School Principal, Ashtiny Cleveland. Merrell says he called Mobile Police and filed a report about what allegedly happened at Allentown Elementary School. We contacted Mobile Police about the case. They tell us they are investigating the allegations but no charges have been filed.

We are now a week after the report was done, and 10 plus days after the “allegations” were made. Is wkrg going to follow up?

When this story was aired in the media, that made it open for public scrutiny. I WILL NOT leave this alone, speakingout, until EVERYTHING is properly investigated. As a parent, I have the right to know IF these allegations or true or not. If wkrg does not follow up and give me the answers I want, then don’t think for a minute I won’t try to find someone who will. Even if I have to go national to get this story investigated. The family wanted an investigation, they are going to get one. The story doesn’t stop with their “allegations,” there are what over 600 more students at that school, not to mention all the other schools this “could have happened at.” Let’s get the TRUTH!

Did you all know there are many facets to autism, essentially different levels? Did you also know that there are many famous people who had/have autism or one of sub-diagnosis? Beethoven, Mozart, Van Gogh to name a few. I find that very intriguing.......

Why do I need to leave it alone, the story is still open isn’t it? And you are correct, I don’t know the family or the child, but since you seem to, maybe you would like to update everyone on what is going on? And actually, there are quite a few more things I COULD say, but I am practicing restraint.

It seems to me that you obviously have alot of time on your hands to bash honest people. This is absolutely rediculous. I am sure that we all get your point. You can stop saying the same thing over and over again. You don’t know this child or his family! You have said your peace now leave it alone.!!!!!!!

What about the prostitute who claims “rape” because they didn’t get their $25 (or whatever they charge), or their crack? Is that rape, or robbery of “goods and services.”

Just curious. Oh, and by the way, I think being skeptical can actually be a good thing. Keeps it real!

I have a question...you said you work at a local college and there are rapes each year that go unreported. Why is that? I do believe bad things can happen anywhere, there is no doubt about that. I have had my purse stolen from my vehicle in a church parking lot of all places.

I am not anti-victim. I have said I was a victim myself in my childhood. I believe the McEvoy case needs to go to trial and that step-father convicted, even though the child is no longer alive. Bless that family.

But I also question what some want to call “rape” or “molestation.” For instance, if a college girl goes on a drinking binge, then wakes up in a house with someone she may or may not know, is that rape, or poor judgment? What if she said “yes” but can’t remember, because she was blitzed, or now feels guilty that she did what she did. Is it fair to accuse the person she “slept with” of rape, if possibly it wasn’t? Haven’t there been some cases where that happened? Continued....

I am now on my lunch break, from work where I am doing my part to support the welfare recipients and higher insurance rates due to bogus lawsuits. Few questions for you....want to share the “truth?” How do you know a good attorney, use one often? Are you one of those people who “fake” falls to collect from Wal-mart, or yell whiplash and permanent disability when their car is bumped. Just wondering. What difference does it make if I am a woman. Do you not think women have the sense to question things which don’t add up? That good old two plus two thing. You also said “if” this turns out to be a truthful accusation-isn’t that what the big question is? IF? I am questioning the OTHER side of that IF- what IF it’s NOT true-then look at the one’s who have been potentially damaged. And won’t you feel good, if, and dare I say possibly WHEN, this is shown to be what I have thought all along- a ploy to get an AIDE.
