Weather Interns
Weather interns must meet the general requirements of a WKRG-TV internship as outlined in the application forms. We look for students majoring in meteorology or programs leading to careers in broadcast meteorology. Candidates must have had completed core coursework in meteorology to be considered. Prospective weather interns must also have a face to face interview with the Chief Meteorologist before a final consideration is made.

Weather intern duties are assigned by the Chief Meteorologist. Their curriculum will depend upon the student's level of knowledge of meteorology and broadcasting. All weather interns can expect to assist in forecasting, answering phones and viewer questions, compiling climatological and other local weather information, researching local weather topics, contributing information for articles in the Weather Education section of wkrg.com, searching for and compiling file weather video, and “running” information between the weather office and newsroom. Weather interns are encouraged to learn to produce weather graphics for on-air use as well as edit video. Weather interns are also exposed to the operations of the newsroom and given the opportunity to practice chroma-key weathercasts.
