Chris Frye joined the WKRG Sports Department in April 2007 as Sports Anchor/Reporter. He comes from WREX-TV in Rockford, IL where he anchored the weekend sportscast and reported during the week.
A native of Arkansas, Chris received his Bacholor of Arts degree in Radio, TV and Film at the University of Central Arkansas. He worked his way up the television ladder starting as a Production Assistant at KARK-TV in Little Rock,
AR. Then he received his 1st on-air job in Illinois, where Chris covered events from Green Bay Packers to the Chicago Cubs. Most recently, Chris had the opporunity to talk one-on-one with baseball's Home Run king, Mobile native Hank Aaron.
Chris says that "Living in the Midwest for two years was a great experience. I met some wonderful people during my time there. But I'm a Southern guy and I'd rather live in 100-plus degree weather anyday than living 6 to 8 months out of the year in snow and sub-zero temps!" He goes on to say that, "Covering sports in the Midwest was a great experience, but there's nothing like football Saturdays in the South. Covering SEC football has been a dream of mine for quite some time. The passion of college football fans down here is like none other in any sport and I'm just glad I'll have an opportunity to share in that excitement."
When Chris isn't hard at work, you'll find him either resting, exercising or watching Sportscenter. But chances are, if he's at work or if it's during his spare time, he's most likely rooting for his homestate team, the Arkansas Razorbacks.....PIG SOOEY! (Especially when they play Alabama and Auburn!)
Chris is a member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc.
