DAUPHIN ISLAND, Alabama - Tropical Storm Ida made her effects felt early in the day Monday on Dauphin Island.
By sunset, power was off on most of the island.
Jake and Nancy Sims weren't expecting a tropical storm in November.
Jake Sims said, "We're having a house built, and this is our winter time getaway."
Still, they decided to ride out Ida.
Jake Sims said, "We debated, but we've got pets and all here, so, we're going to just stay with them. They go, we go."
Nancy Sims said, "We were concerned about our pets, and I didn't think anybody wants to come stay with two dogs and a cat, so we just decided to ride it out. If it was real bad, we would be gone, definitely."
The Ship And Shore convenience store had a generator, and many people flocked there for last minute purchases.
One woman who said she was going to stay on the island was named "Stormy."
When asked what she was shopping for, Jennifer James said, "Beer and cigarettes."
One person we talked to was more interested in watching a football game than the storm.
Kim Bosarge said she wanted to see the "Broncos and Pittsburgh."
When asked if she thought the storm would cause reception problems, Bosarge said, "As long as my generator works, my satellite will work."
