I highly recommend everyone check out this year's Rennaisance Faire. I went yesterday and was surprised how this once-small event has blossomed into a huge creation. It's a day spent doing something different and suitable for every age. It's also a perfect venue for people-watching which has always been one of my favorite activities. And about the only thing better than watching normal people is watching normal people dressed up in Rennaisance costumes.
There are now countless tents with vendors displaying and selling everything mideveil, performers (a man-and-woman team of sword swallowers who are quite impressive), musicians, dancers, shows, food, and of course everyone's favorite: the jousting event. We were treated to a double unhorsing yesterday which was outstanding for the spectators but looked to be crippling for the two poor knights.
And as an added little bonus, the AKC dog show is being held inside the event hall, and it's free!
Take advantage of this beautiful day and go.
