"I was watching that movie Mad Max, you know that movie where gas is so precious that people are killing each other for a few gallons. It was set in the future -- I believe it was August."

The trouble with real life is there’s no danger music.

The mention of Mad Max sparked a memory of an obscure little movie called "Americathon" from the tail-end of the 70's. In the future, America runs out of gas, so people just turn their cars into domiciles and jog everywhere. John Ritter plays a Jerry Brown-esque president, and Harvey Korman hosts a telethon to bail the US out of debt before it is repossessed by a tennis shoe company.
