FYI, My weather station in the Dawes area was under an isolated thunderstorm Friday night. It was very small, but very active with rain and lightning. Here are some numbers:

Time Wind Dir Spd Gust Humidity Temp Barom Tot Rain
7:40pm 129 1 5 89 73.8 29.90 16.88
8:00pm 142 0 11 92 72.9 29.91 16.89
8:20pm 64 3 5 93 72.4 29.93 17.40
8:40pm 182 0 9 94 72.1 29.94 18.81
9:00pm 153 0 9 95 71.9 29.93 19.02

It amounts to 2.13in of rain in one hour from 8pm to 9pm. (Note: You have to subtract the total rain column at 9pm from 8pm.)

1.41in between 8:20 and 8:40.

(i know, the formatting of the data stinks, it's not me it's the message board)

I have a very high-tech rain gauge (an empty peanut butter jar out on my deck). It was full this morning when I dumped it out. I'm not sure how much fuller it would have been had I opted for the higher-tech rain gauge (the extra-large peanut butter jar) but the evidence I was able to gather indicates it dumped whole lot of rain in my neighborhood last night. wink
