There is a new plant being constructed on D’Olive street extending out from Bay Minette, near the city airport. The plant is Cello Energy LLC, owned by Jack and Allen Boykin. The claim of Mr Boykin is that he has found the way to convert cellulosic agricultural material into disel, gas and kerosene. The rate of conversion is said to be approximately 1 gal per 10-12 lbs of material. Making presentation along with Mr Boykin is , I believe, David Bransby, Auburn University (). Mr Boykin states he hopes the plant will be in production in August. They will need approximately 350tons of material per day. This is a privately owned plant. While it is being built just outside Bay Minette, and is near its completion, little has been said regarding the plant. If indeed Mr Boykin has discovered the means by which agricultural material can be converted to disel, gas and kersone and at a stated cost considerably less than that from oil, this should be great news and certainly news to be celebrated at this time. Is it possible for WKRG to get additional inforation on this plant.
