Is your personal belongings really safe at Bebo's car wash.
On 4/6/08 we went to the Mobile Bebo's carwash. Been using them for years. My daughter keeps her IPOD in the door pocket of my husband's truck along with her cell phone. She is 12 years old. She never thought anything about leaving it there while my husband went and had his truck cleaned, because we don't have a lot of things to go missing where we are from. She and I got out at shoe station and the ipod was there when she picked up her phone and when he came back to pick us up, she went to put her phone in the door pocket and said "Oh my God where is my IPOD", we immediately stopped the vehicle got out and searched the vehicle and immediately went back to Bebo's and got a manager to come and look and it could not be found. He went to look for the employee and he was gone, at the time he said that he had not clue where the employee was that maybe he had gone to lunch, at this time it was around 3:15 and we went inside for him to make out an incident report and he the Manager wrote on our report and verbally said that it would be taken care of that whoever turned in the ticket to get paid that it was his responsibility and that it would come from his pay check. He then verbally said that he the employee is supposed to let you know to get stuff from your vehicle and he failed to do this so he was responsible. My husband was inside the building and seen no one but one employee near his truck. On top of that the truck was never cleaned, it almost looked like it did when he went through the car wash. The manager for that day also said it was not cleaned, never offered to send it back through the car wash, and he said that he would leave the information for the next manager and someone would call me the next day and I called them around 2"00 and they had no clue they finally found the paperwork in the Manger's box from Sunday. On Tuesday of that week I went back to the car wash 65 miles one way to talk to the manager because they said that he would be in that day and he was not there. The office manager inspected the truck and took it through the car wash and had a lady to clean and it took her 45 minutes to clean the truck like it should have been done the first day. The boy had to leave at 2:30 to go and play ball but decided to take our truck to clean and failed to do what he was responsible for doing and then took my daughter's ipod, I did not see him take it but where else would it have gone. at 2:50 I called my husband (phone records) to see how much longer he was going to be, so if he was supposed to leave at 2:30 why take this vehicle to clean. We believe that because the employee left a water bottle in the cup holder beside the pocket that he was trying to hide the spot and because it was one person in the vehicle that he thought by the time that we realized it was gone or that my daughter went to looking for it we would not know where to begin looking. I have about $250.00 involved in the IPOD and would like to know why because the owner says they are not responsible then why would the manager put in writing that it would be taken care of. I would have called a police officer there on that day had the manager told me any different but he led me to believe in writing that it would be handled, that all we needed to do was replace the ipod and bring a receipt and they would cut us a check. I understand that this manager had only been there about 2 months but he should have known their policy, and not mislead us.
If interested in running this story I have names and dates and other information just hilighted the most.

I was getting ripped off every time I went to Bebo's so now I go to Richie's in Saraland, they do a much better job of cleaning your vehicle.

My mother in law took her car to Bebo's in Foley last week for an oil change. She made it to Pensacola before the motor seized up. They did not tighten the oil plug up. They admitted to it, said they would replace the motor in it. They car is an older Buick with very few miles on it. Well taken care of. Bebo's now claim that the new motor will cost more the blue book value on the car (about $5000.00). So they will not replace it unless they can find a used motor that is cheaper. We cannot afford to go hiring lawyers and such, would it help to report Bebo's to the better business bureau ?

It can't hurt. Sue them in civil court. You may not get the full amount but you will be able to recover part of the money.

Sorry to hear about your ipod and the engine. Seems like more and moe businesses have this problem these days...mediocre service...mediocre employee's...etc. Mudbug is right, you could sue them in civil court, but, it may not be worth it. I personally NEVER leave belongings in my vehicle if I have it serviced...too risky these days. Granted, NO ONE should steal YOUR belongings from YOUR vehicle, but that is the way things are these days and it is only going to get worse. Lesson learned? As for the engine, I had the same EXACT thing happen with a Nissan that I took to the DEALERSHIP! (yes, the dealership!) They left the cam seals out and the engine seized up while an employee was "test driving" my car. Long story short, they wound up replacing the engine. It did take some time (3 months if I remember correctly) but it was worth the fight in the end. Don't give up. Good luck..
