Teen drinking coverage

While I understand that teen drinking is an issue that needs to be covered, I am irked by the timeslot that was chosen to broadcast the report.

WKRG has a tendency to block nationally televised shows that people follow on a weekly basis for “special local coverage” events, be it a small thunderstorm moving into an area, prompting 10 interruptions of a program cutting out 20 minutes of the show in a 1 hour period, or completely cutting out of a program and showing it at an ungodly hour when most people are asleep.

Choose a BETTER time, say 6:30 when you show Andy Griffith and when people are more in the mood for “news type” programming.

I don’t even follow criminal minds on a weekly basis, but the way WKRG does this to viewers with no real consideration to those of us who don’t really want breathless coverage of the current hot topic of the day or the current minor storm popping up is old.

If CBS was broadcast on another channel, i’d personally never watch WKRG because of this annoying tendency of the local station to do these things.

I guess there is some segment of the population that enjoys these broadcasts, but I definately don’t.

Tonight’s episode of ‘Criminal Minds’ was not new. It was in fact a repeat of a show that originally aired on January 9th.

If you’d still like to see the episode, it will be rebroadcast at 12:37 a.m. after the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

ALL NEW episodes of ‘Criminal Minds’ start next Wednesday, April 30th.

I totally agree it’s either a special report or the incessant, fear-mongering repetitious weather coverage of a rain shower.

There is no other broadcast choice for CBS programming and I do follow some shows but I will no longer watch WKRG, I will record the shows so that I can fast forward past the commercials, if they get preempted, I will just watch them online. Stations are supported by advertising and sponsors that depend on viewers, I have already forwarded my complaints to the General Manager at WKRG and to CBS.

I have to agree.  I set aside time to watch Criminal Minds and found this news show.  I realize that this is an important topic but a whole news show in the middle of primetime was quite irritating.  And I know that it was a repeat.

If I had known the special was on, I would have watched it!  It is a very important issue at all times, but especialy now when kids are going on spring break trips.

And there is the problem.  Spring Break is over.  Baldwin and Mobile Counties were the last ones to go on spring break and all the colleges are also finished.

Timing is everything.

It sounds like they tried to pick a night when a repeat of a program was scheduled in an effort to appease their audience and they are still getting pounded for doing so.  Can’t please all the people all the time.......

I tried watching Ghost Whisperer, was interupted the last three times it was on. If they would just come on tht air, tell us where the storm is and get off it would be alot better. They just repeat the same info over and over.

I also think this is an important topic.  So many children are exposed to alcohol and alcohol related death is on the rise.  I watched this program and I am glad to see more awarness about issues such as this. excaim

Why does it take a news channel to get the issues across to children that their parents should be handling in the first place? With teenage DUI’s occurring, I say, “ don’t shoot the messenger, aim your frustrations toward the parents.” I appreciate the efforts of WKRG.
