A small group of parents, in Baldwin County, formed The Center for Autism & Asperger Resources, Inc a nonprofit organization. They want to locate the Center in Robertsdale, the hub city of Baldwin County.
Now it looks like this will be possible as they are working hard to buy The First Baptist Church buildings on Racine Street in Robertsdale.
The parents are planning fund raisers and negotiating with resource providers from around the state, at the same time.
When the dust clears, the center will have such resources as testing, ABA therapy, parent workshops, educators professional development, Asperger resources for children and Adults, mom’s day out, Parents night out, support groups for parents, siblings, grandparents, daycare, and more.
The volunteer parent group is called The Autism & Asperger Society of Baldwin County. They have already started support group meetings and they will be at the Heritage Day Festival in Silverhill on Saturday. The following week they will be at the Sausage Festival in Elberta. They have joined with the Centers for Disease Control on a campaign of “Know the Signs. Act Early”, and will be handing out free literature about Autism Spectrum Disorders. Please come by their tent and learn more about the much needed resource center that will help families with developmentally delayed children,
