It will be interesting to know if David Cook is receiving anything from the album or not. I personally have a feeling that he is not seeing a dime of it, but we shall see.
I don't know since the theme is Broadway, I think. Personally doesn't thrill me, but we will see. Wonder if David Cook can rock that one up? I think David Archuletta will do well, since Simon like to refer to his performances as "Disney" at times-not too big a leap to Broadway-lol.
I just checked their site and I see it is Andrew Lloyd Weber night, so Cook's choices will be limited. Didn't they do this last year and didn't it suck?
I don't even have a clue who that is. I guess oldies have their place, but not on Idol, when the point is to get "current" stars. IMO a lot of what they do-ie...60's, 70's themes stinks. Now, anything 80's and up is cool because it "relates" to todays music. Just my opinion.
ALW is best known for Phantom of the Opera, but he has written a lot of music for theater. A lot of it is very good, but it doesn't translate well to young pop type artist.
I thought the Beatles thing this year was a low point, because that is one of a kind stuff. But, some of the 60's and 70's stuff could easily be updated for this generation.
I didn't care for the Beatles thing either, especially not two weeks of it. I guess the other music would be OK if they did update it some. And there are some talented enough to do that, like David Cook, Chris Daughtery and the beat boxer from last year (although that spitting/sputtering stuff got old for me too).
Brooke forgot her lyrics and started over-big no-no from Paula, but Randy and Simon said she did exactly the right thing by starting over. Syesha and David Cook got great reviews. Carly held up a tshirt that said Simon Likes Me (this week) after her reviews. David Archuletta did OK, and had a bunch of young girls come up on stage to hug him before he started. David Castro didn't get good reviews. I think it will be between David Castor and Brooke tonight as to who goes. I would rather see David Castro go myself-everything does have that "luau" tone to it.
Brooke has always been my favorite, but I have never thought she was the most talented of the bunch. I kind of like Castro's style. It definitely is a laid back breezy kind of performance. Not sure I could listen to a whole CD by the guy though. I did catch Cook's performance and that was very different for him. He has an amazing voice and is more flexible than I originally thought.
