In the absence of any comment, I'm not sure how you feel about this.

My opinion is that Wright seems to be a rather outspoken preacher with some crazy ideas and a hyper-sensitivity to being black. I look at him like I do lots of preachers who are loud and angry and opinionated and try to whip their sheep into believing as they do by the use of fire and brimstone. I will admit it's odd to me that Obama considers such a man his friend, but then I look at some of my weird friends and think I might not ought to judge others by the company they keep.

I have a close friend who's a raging Republican, who would bow down and kiss Bush's feet if she was ever in his presence, but I still like her, even if I think she's an idiot when it comes to politics. Until he died, I had a family member who was a racist, pure and simple. But he was old and lived in a time when things were different and he wasn't able to ever change his views about blacks, even if he'd wanted to, which he didn't. I guess I could have had nothing to do with him because he was the way he was, but in other ways he was a good person and since he wasn't ME and I didn't share his prejudiced beliefs, I didn't.

Judging people by the company they keep would make us think pretty badly of all Catholics, considering how our country is teeming with pedophile preists.

The point is, Obama is not Wright. I've listened to the things that Obama has said, the things that I believe will make him a good president. I haven't heard one comment from Obama's mouth that indicates he thinks like Wright thinks. To the contrary, a spokesman for the Obama campaign speaking about Wright said that Obama "has said before that he profoundly disagrees with some of the statements and positions of Reverend Wright, who has preached his last sermon as pastor at the church. Senator Obama deplores divisive statements whether they come from his supporters, the supporters of his opponent, talk radio, or anywhere else."

So...what's the problem?

Wright is clearly a radical racist that used his pulpit to preach hate and exploit his political opinions. His whole congregation was on their feet applauding his misguided rants against all things white.

Barack Obama has been a member of that church for 20 years and considers Wright to be his spiritual advisor. I see a problem with that! Much like I would have a problem with one of his opponents announcing that David Duke was their spiritual advisor for the past 20 years.

If I walked into a church and heard such hatred being blasted from the pulpit, I would turn around, walk out and never return.

I've tried to give Obama the benefit of the "doubt" through all of these stories that have surrounded him so far in this campaign, BUT......Now I know more of who he really is and I will not support him in any way to help him win this election. Now I wonder about the other stories that have been hushed so far. I think there's much more to Obama than some want to believe. I have a really bad feeling about this man.

Bobcat.

Did you know that the pastor at your church is a radical supporter of GreenPeace? And has been all his life? That the man you listen too and goto for spiritual answers has gone out into the woods and destoryed millions of dollars of forestry equipment?

Now you are running for dog catcher and you want my vote?

Come on.. Get real. Why would I want you as my dog catcher when you listen and follow a man that is clearly a radical eco-warrior?

Get the point? I've just completely judged you on incomplete evidence. How's it feel?

Generally speaking, some people would make more sense if they would get regular check-ups and take their medications regularly when prescribed by a licensed physician. That's my personal opinion. Get the point?

Obama's explanations are as troubling as the sermons given by Wright, if not more so. It tells me he is not a straight shooter and thinks the American public are fools. You do not go to a church like that for 20 years and not know Jeremiah Wright is a radical extremist.

These sermons we have been seeing come from a DVD of "The Best of Jeremiah Wright" produced and sold by the church. This didn't just happen one Sunday while Obama was not in attendance.

Barack Obama’s claim to fame on the campaign trail is the talk of bringing all people together. His mentor will cause a racial divide reminiscent of the tumultuous 60’s. This is not a good thing and I just don’t think I can any longer trust Obama. Over the past year I have really admired the man and thought his heart was in the right place. I just had a distinct difference of opinions along political lines. That is why I am a conservative Republican.

Now I can’t help but feel as though there is a whole other agenda boiling beneath the surface. This is not good for anyone and his supporters are only causing more harm to the guy’s image.

People who have never supported Obama, whether because of his inexperience, his color, or the fact that he's a Democrat, are loving what's happening right now. It's natural and I don't blame them for it. If something potentially damaging to McCain's run for the presidency came about (and we've got several more months so anything's possible), I'd be all over it too.

I hate this business with the crazy preacher has been spun out of control, but not because I think Obama is anything like Wright. And neither does anyone else. I mean seriously, does any thinking person really believe that someone like Obama is a white-hating nutcase? Does anyone think that Obama is trying to pull off an amazing subversive undercover overthrow of white America by slipping into the presidency and catapulting Blacks to power? Well actually, the answer is yes, some people actually do believe that.

But I hate what's happening because it may unfairly paint Obama in a way that I simply don't believe he is. Now, I admit I have a hard time understanding why someone who has vastly differing opinions would look up to someone like Wright, and in fact call him a spiritual advisor. I don't get that. It's mysterious and I can't explain it. But he can, and has, and his explanation is that Wright is a close family friend who holds opinions with which he strongly disagrees.

One might even say that it speaks volumes for a man who sticks with his friends, even when they might damage their career. There aren't very many people who would do that...ESPECIALLY a politician. Politicians are famous for trampling friends to get ahead in politics. Politicians in general want to be all things to mainstream America and usually have no problems getting rid of anyone around them who would hinder them in reaching that goal.

The majority of human beings judge people by the company they keep. They assign guilt by association. You lie down with dogs and you get up with fleas. And sometimes that's true. But sometimes it's not.

My personal feeling is that Obama, knowing Wright is and has been a loose cannon, should have ditched him as a friend a long time ago. In doing so, he would have distanced himself from someone he had to have known would hurt him at some point. And a politician with his eye on the White House has to act in ways that average folks like you and me don't. I don't know why Obama did not divest himself of this albatross around his neck. Maybe he's just one of those truly good people who doesn't do that to his friends.

The bottom line is the folks who would tar and feather Obama based on his relationship with Wright would never have even considered voting for him in the first place so that's no loss. Those, like me, who still support him will worry that he made a very serious mistake by continuing to align himself with a crazy person. But this election - like the last election - may very well bring out voters who choose not the person who's perfect or who believes every single thing they themselves believe or who thinks they think will always be infallible, but instead will vote against the person they fear the most.

I do not love this latest news about Obama’s spiritual adviser and mentor. I liked Barack and admired his ability to motivate others even though he has never really said much about the important issues facing us all over the next four years. But, I believe in a strong defense department, securing our borders, pro-life stance, the sanctity of marriage and a smaller federal government. The Republican Party more closely aligns with my belief system.

Most of us excused the man’s association with the likes of Louis Farrakhan. Then his wife’s anti-American statements were forgiven. Now we hear the rants of a mad man in a pulpit preaching hatred and disdain for the only country in the world that offers him the freedom to do such. I see a pattern developing and I have a gut feeling the biggest bomb has not even been dropped yet.

The preacher’s sermons are disgusting at the highest degree, but what is bothering me more today is that Barrack can look the American people in the eye and tell them he had no clue that Rev. Wright expressed such feelings. Just how gullible does he think we are?

So, the question becomes, is Barack Obama an honest man that is completely oblivious to his surroundings, or is he serving up a nicely decorated plate of BS?
