Any person who votes for John McCain (or any Republican or Democrat who doesn't believe in a rapid exit from Iraq) will have the deaths of all our military personnel over there on their conscience. Each time another innocent person falls, they will have to say to themselves "My vote did this." McCain is nothing but a Bush clone. The last thing America needs is three terms of Bush destruction and another 100 years in Iraq.

Of course at his age, McCain probably won't make it through four years anyway...and then who will step into his place? What an absolutely terrifying thought.

But really. McCain is nothing more than a democrat in sheep's clothing. You can bet that he's going to get our troops out of Iraq as soon as possible.

You can also bet that he's going to raise taxes on the rich so that the gov't can start funding more entitlement programs. Which in turn will further depress the U.S. economy and push us into a deeper recession.

So nab... Who's going to help you pay your power bills next year? My guess is that eventually it will be the democrats. Of course they will be taking the money from the rich to give to the poor. But eventually the rich won't be rich anymore. So then what? By then it won't matter because we will all be working for the fed and all of us will be getting what we deserve, what we have a "right" too. We'll just have to do what the fed tells us to do.

I think it's absolutely amazing how the Republicans talk about what dire financial straits we'll be in should a Democrat become President. Ha. Ha. Ha. Thanks to the present Republican in office, the United States is and will be so far in debt we'll never see the light of day in our lifetimes. Bush wants three trillion plus dollars budgeted for next year to help pay for this stupid war he got us into...and you're talking about Democrats hurting us financially?!

And what will happen is when our next Democratic President gets into office he'll be sinking like he's got concrete blocks tied to his ankles because of the financial mess that he will inherit from this administration. Spend spend spend has been the war cry of the Bush administration so don't try to pretend whatever nightmare of debt might occur will happen because of the Democrats.

The problem (one of many) with McCain is the man simply cannot admit he's wrong. EXACTLY like Bush, who believes that he's ALWAYS right, no matter what proof to the contrary slaps him in the face. McCain was wrong when he supported Bush's misleading case for war, wrong about Donald Rumsfeld, wrong to initially predict that we'd have an overwhelming victory in the blink of an eye. Have you forgotten? Or do you simply not care?

If you are still behind Bush, then McCain's your man. But considering that a clear majority of the American people want our troops withdrawn soon, he, like Bush, is out of step with what we want. He and Bush have divided their party, caused their own party to defect in embarrassment and caused Democrats to hit the polls to vote in record numbers. He will not listen, he will not admit he's been wrong in the past, he's another Bush, plain and simple...maybe worse.

Can you ever recall the American population being as deeply angry and frustrated as we are heading to this upcoming election? I certainly can't. Americans by a large majority want the war to end, and as soon as possible. And I also blame our Democratic congress who talks a big talk but walks like Republicans. They have power, power that the majority of Americans want them to use, and they will not force Bush to do what needs to be done in Iraq.

And now it seems the economy is replacing the war in the minds of Americans as far as what's important. Maybe because it's gone on so long, we're just becoming hardened to what's happening. As the years roll on, suicide bombings keep happening, people keep dying, money keeps being thrown into the neverending hole that is the Iraq war, and Americans are just getting tired of it...tired of hearing about it, tired of the cost, tired of the monotony of what's happened and what keeps on happening.

God, how miserably, incredibly sad is that? People are dying and we're going broke, all because of a war that never should have happened, that no one will stop, and that no one even seems to think is that important any more.

And yet there are STILL people who want a man like McCain as president, to keep toeing the Bush line. Absolutely unbelievable.

In Milwaukee on Monday, Michelle Obama said: "Let me tell you, for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country". The only reason this woman squeeled is because of Barack Obama in his run for the office of U.S. President.

What is upsetting to me about this, is that this woman said "this is the FIRST TIME SHES BEEN REALLY PROUD OF HER COUNTRY"..... think about it... a heck of a thing for a potential first lady to say.

Tie for # 1 with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton based on that survey.

I can't believe McCain supports no child left behind, all of my friends who are teachers (most work in under-privileged schools) say that this law is NOT working and is detrimental to their efforts in trying to improve education for their students. It frightens me that McCain says he would stay in Iraq for 100 years, no matter what he really meant by that. And lastly, I cannot support a candidate that will appoint supreme court judges who will overturn a law (and constitutional right!) to my medical privacy! Yes, this means my decision to make healthy choices about my body!

It really doesn't matter who is elected to the presidential office from the current front runner candidate's. The result will be the same. More entitlement's for the so called poor and less reason for those who are perceived to be rich to invest their money. Less economic growth and more gov't control. We are doomed. Just look at the Mayan calander, it ends in 4 years. December 21 2012 I believe it is. The end is nigh!!!

I don't agree with your statement, but you have a right to your opinion. What if Obama wins and all hell breaks loose? Are you prepared to stand up and take blame for what he has done? I really doubt it because you seem to say one thing one minute and another thing the next. You seem to express your opinion against people very harshly, but at the same time you get upset when others do the same.

George Wallace observed that there is not a dime’s worth of difference between Republicans and Democrats. That was 35 years ago, and the difference today might be measured in pennies if it weren’t for inflation.

With the exception of Ron Paul, all the candidates are going in the same basic direction. They all want the government to do more tomorrow than it is doing today. Ron Paul supporters were deluded into thinking that broad support would flock to a candidate who told everyone the free ride must end and we must face the harsh economic realities. If you are enjoying the ride, you don’t want to hear that you’re headed for a cliff. Ron Paul was marginalized as a kook who was out of step with the mainstream because he did not stay in the lines of allowable debate. Do you want to go over the cliff at 80 mph, or only 60? That is an allowable question. Do you want to reverse course and not go over at all? This is not an allowable question.

Left and Right have ceased to be meaningful, except in terms of which direction are you going to approach the cliff from before you go over it.

At a time when the Iraq war is hugely unpopular, two of the three leading candidates are pro-war. Hillary is really Bush in a woman’s pants suit. McCain is Bush on steroids. The election, however, will not be decided by Republicans and Democrats, it will be decided by anti-war Independents. This is why current polls show McCain in a dead-heat if he goes against Hillary, but getting trounced going head-to-head against Obama.

Hillary has equivocated on the war, because she secretly loves it. She also loves all the executive power Bush has been accumulating during his reign. She is looking forward to the warrantless wiretapping and spying privileges she’ll get to use. Unlike her husband, she takes political attacks personally. Unlike her husband, she doesn’t seek power as a means to make a mark in the world, or to get laid. She has a deep righteous belief that she is blessed with the insight and wisdom to lord over her fellow countrymen. Righteous vindictiveness plus a free reign to spy is going to spell a new Watergate.

John McCain is living in a fantasy world where he thinks American will tolerate a hundred years in Iraq. As the most economically ignorant of the leading candidates, he thinks we can actually afford another century of occupation. This is like thinking we can buy a fleet of Hummers and it not affect the household budget. He might have a chance if he chooses Huckabee as a running mate. This is because the Christian Right will not vote for him otherwise. They don’t like him, but they might reconsider if his VP has a shot at ascending to national pastor.

Obama is being hailed as the second coming of JFK, but with darker skin and better teeth. His agenda is a traditional progressive one, if those two terms can be used together. He proposes what most progressive liberals propose--more government spending on progressive liberal causes. He assumes the money is going to be there for that.

Obama is on record for ending the Iraq war, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Woodrow Wilson and LBJ both ran on anti-war platforms before cranking up the draft. However, Obama’s anti-war stance is going a long way toward helping him overcome his ethnic origins and funny name. The race baiters have seriously underestimated this.

But whoever is elected is going to have to preside over the Empire of Debt we’ve created. We are already seeing a return of 70’s style stagflation. The limits of the Feds ability to work magic are being revealed. A $300 rebate check won’t cure this.

I look for the following things to happen: First, state and municipal governments are going to suddenly find themselves in dire straits with declining revenues. Unlike the Federal government, they can’t print money to keep themselves afloat. Budget cuts and layoffs will abound.

Second, the declining dollar will cause the Chinese and other Eastern banks to start dumping the dollars they’re sitting on. The gravy train we’ve been riding and they’ve been financing is going to come to a very unpleasant halt. This will deepen the recession, possibly taking us into a full fledged depression.

Third, we will withdraw from Iraq--even with McCain in the White House--simply because we’ll have no money or impetus to continue. Soldiers returning home are going to face joblessness and declining economic opportunities. They will also be angry and disenchanted at the utter futility of the Iraq enterprise. They will take their anger out with a new wave of civil strife like we haven’t had since the 60’s.

Wow. That's just plain...depressing. And even worse, I'm afraid you're absolutely right.
