Come on Alabama, break free of the stereotypes.....do you really believe everything you read on the internet?

"In the internet age, there are going to be lies that are spread all over the place. I have been victimized by these lies. Fortunately, the American people are, I think, smarter than folks give them credit for." -Barack Obama, MSNBC Debate, January 15, 2008

For the truth on Obama and to answers to these lies, check out his website (and no, he's not a muslim, not that that should matter anyhow!),

http://www.barackobama.com/factcheck/2007/11/12/obama_has_never_been_a_muslim_1.php

You can also learn a lot about his campaign and what issues you may agree with him on!!! Make an informed decision this voting year!

Please remember, Bush won his last presidential election based on a campaign of fear and look at where our country as ended up!!!!! Don't be afraid to vote for change and send this country in a new direction!!!

Cali, while I agree with you, I've got to say you're wasting your time on this board. Just take a few minutes and look over the posts and replies within the WKRG forum and you'll understand what sort of people are here.

It's disheartening that the WKRG forum has turned into a place where people who can't write one grammatically-correct sentence will post eight pages worth of detailed, gruesome, explicit descriptions of how they'd like to torture someone, proclaim their proud confederate heritage while telling everybody who doesn't like it or agree with them to leave, deliberately misquote other posters, and repeat racist, innacurate internet propaganda without even considering - or caring - whether it's true.

And to think a few short weeks ago I was wishing more people would participate in the forum.

Be careful what you wish for.

I would be happy if people would just vote their belief. I get so tired of hearing, "I am just throwing my vote away if I vote for Joe Blow Candidate. He/She doesn't have a chance to win and if I vote that way, my vote is waisted! BULL! If every person that thought that way, actually voted how they believed instead of the way the media has lead them to believe, then we really would start to see the changes that we are all longing for instead of the status quo.

I challenge every one of you to do your own research and vote how you believe, not for who you think will win.

I for one will walk away from the primary knowing that I did the right thing this year and voted on what mattered to me, not what mattered to the media.

EDIT: misspelled a word and I so agree Nab. I won't even open up those threads and read them. I say to each their own as long as it is not hurting anybody else. Once it starts to hurt others it is no longer free game.

What does being from the South have to do with it? I am from the south, born and raised and in the Southern Baptist Church to boot and I feel the same way Nab does. People need to stop dwelling on the past and instead LEARN from it and look to the future. Where we came from is a great thing and the history should never die, but we can not live in the past. This is the present. Live in it and look forward to the the future.

I am proud of my southern heritage as well as my Irish heritage and my Native American heritage. I love that I am polite, say Thank You, and Please because of my upbringing and know that my children do the same. I am proud that I am a good cook and can make a mean plate of Fried Chicken, Turnip Greens and Cornbread. I am proud that I speak with a southern drawl and people know where I am from no matter where I travel. Yes! I am from the south! But that does not mean that I have to be closed minded, bigoted, hateful and reserved. I also love and am proud that I believe in free will and to each their own. I am proud that I am not a bigot or raciest nor am I homophobic. I am open minded and will listen to others opinions and will never put those opinions down UNLESS those opinions are harmful to others. I live a lifestyle of my choosing, not the church nor societies.

Being from the South has nothing to do with it.

Everyone has a right to his/her own opinion, and I don't think it's fair to call someone a bigot just because their opinion differs from yours. The point of a forum is to give everyone an opportunity to "put in their 2 cents worth". The problem I see is that some take it personal if you do not support their opinion, that's when things get out of hand.

I agree that some people will go off on a wild rampage, when they feel passionate about a certain topic, and do not take the time to go back over what they have writen. Yes, some of it makes me laugh when I try to read it, but they still have a right to their opinion and I have to respect that. We are all individuals, raised in different homes with different upbringings and beliefs, and that makes us unique. We just need to learn to accept that there are people that are not going to see things the same way that we do and just try to enjoy the interesting differences. I know I do.

By the way, I did not vote for Obama for reasons that I do not have to explain to anyone, and I have that right. I encourage people to vote for my candidate by giving factual information about that person or their party, but I refuse to insult people when they decide to vote for someone else.

I don't have to consider because I am voting for Obama smile . It's good to see some open-minded Mobilians on this forum. I was afraid of what I might encounter here! This being the conservative bible belt and all. Vote for who stands for what you believe in and not because they are "popular" or have "good looks". I encourage people to read up on the candidates and make an informed decision.

Humm. I have to say that I dont agree with you.. which is apparently not a good thing on here. I am college educated, quite literate and well read, if you have issue with the fact that I wish to be proud of my confederate heritage, well.. so sorry..these are my people and I feel I have a total right to be proud of them.
You might want to consider your posts.. they have been quite closed minded also..I believe that you have upset several people who, because they dont carry your beliefs get critised by you.. who is to say that you are right? Do you have a degree that allows you to dictate to others what they should believe, or who they should be proud of? Because thier thoughts dont agree with yours..does that make them less right than you?
I believe one of the basis's of this country is free speech, that goes for me (and others on here) just as much as you. Maybe it is just that not all of us have the benefit of your excellent education and superior intelligence, to ensure that we can write (and think) perfectly grammatically structured sentences such as you do.. I apologise...
