OK, I’m new to this, but here goes my problem,,,, I am a newly married mom, but i was single and tring to raise my 2 beautiful girls with only the help of my mom, I did everything I was told to do when it came to filing for child support in my oldest daughters life (she is 11 by the way) i have received a total of 11 payments, 5 of witch were because i had him arrested.

Now, what i want to know is, how many other people are having this problem too? And what I am tring to start, is something to change the way the laws are here in Alabama. Did you know that if there is a warrant for child support, there are only about 3 people that even know that it exists???!!! That would be, you, the other parent either the mom or dad, and ONE Deputy!! Only ONE. You could Run their name in the computer, NOTHING!! So, if there are more Moms OR Dads with this problem, all I can say is keep your eyes open, because I WILL GET SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS!! I know that it is not just women that are going through this, my very own sister i a Dead Beat!! I have sent letters to the Governor and the Congress Man. Something has got to be done, because the children are the one that are suffering!!

I agree with you, its a system that needs to be fixed. The problem is that most deadbeats will do just about anything to remain free of their obligation and law enforcement doesn’t have the resources to enforce it effectively.

When there is a warrant issued for the deadbeat parent in your state, its a warrant! Its a statewide warrant usually for contempt of court etc. That means that if a any cop stops him and runs his name/ss/etc he must arrest him (assuming he is in the state where the warrant was issued). Crossing over state lines makes this more difficult, but child support enforcement should be able to help you get other states to help as well.

I am having the same problem! I have been trying to collect child support for the longest. I am getting the run around from my case worker and others in the system. I think! My baby is now 4 years old. The so called dad, which I think that he DO NOT deserve to be called a FATHER unless proven to be one, has been in and out of jail. I was browsing a site on the web when I came across his name so I contacted my case worker to let her know he was locked up. She tells me that they can not do anything for me with child support until he has dealt with his felony charges first. I then inform her that he has been in and out of jail several times slipping by child support and the courts or whom ever never hold him for my case. He is out and has been out since the begining of 2006. He has also worked for the City of Daphne. When I found out and called the sheriff to go pick him up. He had quit to days before. He lives with his grandmother. I told the sheirff that so they could serve him. The grandmother said that he does not live their, of course, he is her only support at this time. I had my brother to call and ask for him and he was their. I then called back to the sheriff office and said that he was their in the house they said if he was and they knocked on the door and the grandmother anwsered it and say he was not they could not go into her home to serve him.
I think the system for child support is not doing enough to track down and locate these DEAD BEAT PARENTS!
I can truly and honestly say if it wasn’t for the lord and MY PARENTS helping me then and now I don’t know where I would be today.
I am a single African American mother of 2 that has been working full time and going to school full time and trying to raise my children all at the same time while looking for support and help.
So, I understand where you are coming from. I don’t ask and say much because GOD don’t put no more on you than you can bare. BUT WE REALLY NEED A BETTER SYSTEM FOR OUR UP COMMING GENERATION!

Godly Child, does your ex have a warrant yet for his unpaid support? If he starts probation (for his present situation) you should find out who his probation officer is and contact him/her. The deadbeats probation officer can probably help you out a great deal.

i’m from Mobile County but married and moved to Fl in 1980. in 1987 i moved home after a divorce.i recieved the first 3 support payments and then never saw another dime. my ex quit a good paying job because when i took him to court the judge signed for the payments to be taken out of his check. i took him to court 2 more times in Fl. still nothing. i then signed up with the state of Al. so they could go after him. i was ASSURED they would do everything possible to get him because"AL. WON’T PUT UP WITH DEAD BEAT DADS” WHAT A JOKE !! i filled out the paperwork, gave them pics of my ex, directions to his job and home. i found out 8 months later they had LOST his file, or so they said.  so i started over. i was told to be patient cause it took some time to get everything in order, and they had alot of cases. a year later i stopped in the office, gave them his social and was informed he had paid in full. this was 1992. WOW $38,000. wheres the check? oh you’ve already recieved it they said.  they had the wrong ss # under the wrong name. he hadn’t paid a dime and they hadn’t touched the case because of the mix up. years later i hired my own laywer. Conclusion: THE SATE OF AL. DECIDED THEY DIDN’T HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO INFORCE WHAT THE STATE OF FL. HAD SET DOWN FOR INFORCEMENT” MY BOYS ARE NOW 23 AND 25.  STILL NO $ AND NOW THAT THEY ARE GROWN THEIR DAD HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM. I GIVE UP. WHEN IT COMES TO DEAD BEAT PARENTS AL. HAS TO BE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST OF TAKING CARE OF THE CHILDREN OF THEIR STATE. AND WE ALL KNOW IT DOSEN’T STOP THERE. THEY ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST ON A LOT OF THINGS. I CALL IT HOME, AND LOVE IT DEARLY. BUT THEIR POLITICS STINKS.

in Alabama they don’t issue “warrants” they issue “writ of a arest” and that doesnt mean ####!!!!!

I have spoken with my case worker about trying to contact his probation officer and getting my case on the role. She says if I can find out who his probation officer is they could look it up. Why do I have to do their job, I really don’t know or understand, but I do know I’m not about to spend extra money trying to search for someone DEAD BEAT when that extra money could be going on things for MY children. I already squeezed for time. But don’t get me wrong I do go after what my children need!

He was out of state they put a rit of arrest, arrested him in Georgia, transfered him to Baldwin co. jail , till we went to court he posted bail was a large amount that went to me. Then he was court ordered threw the courts after 30 days he will go to jail. That was in 2000, I still get my child support plus interest of 12% annually till all arrears are paid. I represent myself in court. Why pay someone to fight for what’s yours pay yourself, get what you want. Arrears is always yours, fight for it . I am glad I did.

i just wanted to let everybody know that I am gonna get something done about my problem, and I wanted to tell everybody that i have an appointment with the Legislature for my district on Wednesday, and he is going to try to help me (yeah me!!!!!)

I’am so glad for you, you have to be persisstance in a matter like this. If you don’t fight for what’s your you won’t get it. You, owe this to your children, it’s the law. Child Support is always yours and you can collect it. Good Luck with your appointment Let me know what happens.
