What I do know is that my young daughter was removed from where she was supposed to be ( in class ) and held for 6 hours without myself or my wife being notified. School authorities claimed she admitted to taking a “controlled substance” and still no phone call. Chickasaw police came in and asked the kids “what di you take, how much did you pay for it, who did you get it from?” which where I am from is followed by “ we are placing you under arrest”. When she asked to be able to call home, she was refused. What it boils down to is that school employees held my daughter that they suspected to have been under the influence of any kind of “controlled substance” and allowed civil authorities to question her in a potientialy criminal matter. They did not contact me immediately , and refused to let her contact me upon her request. Whether legal or not, a serious breech of trust has occured. If I had taken your child from the front yard where you allowed her to play and held her in my house for six hours and refused to let her go , or to call you to let you know that I thought little billy gave her a roofy. Tell me that you wouldn’t be pissed off.My daughter was accussed and determined to be in violation of the code of conduct that she and I promised to obey. I am not arguing that point. What is more is that I consider her punishment fair and hope she learned a very valuable lesson about breaking an aggreement she made with her school. Don’t think that she is not in serious trouble for getting herself removed from school. The point that I object to is the manner in which the school and the police dealt with whole situation. Especially when the school had called my wife not thirty minutes before her being removed from class concerning an error in her attendance record. Oh yeah , her statement she made did not say that she took anything, it said someone gave her something. The school could not produce the substance , because she was not caught in possesion of anything. The only actual proof they had was hearsay from a scared little boy hoping to rat enough people out to get himself out of trouble. If this was a courtroom it would have been dissmissed from lack of any kind of evidence. I don’t know about in the United States of Chickasaw , but in the rest of the country this is considered a violation of her rights as a human being. I thank you as a father , because now my daughter is determined to someday be in the position where these same people will have to account for their actions towards her.
