Can y'all even fathom what those poor folks in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma are going through? I can't. And now they're saying it could be TEN DAYS - or longer! - before some of those people get their power back on.

It's one thing to suffer with no power down here after a hurricane. It sucks, I hate it. But when you have no power and you're tryng to keep from freezing to death in your own home...unbelievable.

Another reason to count our blessings that we live down here in paradise.

When i lived in VA for a bit we lost power for 2 days during a winter snow storm and that was bad enough. My feather down comforter became my best friend. I could not imagine 10 days in mid winter.

Did Sitting Bull have power or down comforter...when i was a kid we did not have heat or air in school...My grand father lived in a tent...I lived i a tent in the army...im sure they will make it and be better people for it......the point is they dont have power some people dont have a house...

Well, you can always find somebody in worse shape than you if you look. But the point is, these people didn't live back in the 1800's, they're used to and depend on heat, and the only time they stay in tents is on overnight camping trips with the kids.

Some people DIDN't make it! There are deaths in the wake of this storm - and will be more, with another storm on the way. Just because things can always be worse is no reason to not have compassion for people who are struggling to survive.
