What do you mean "men don't wear them"? Have you looked around?

I don't really get this outrage either. Yes, I agree it looks ridiculous, but why do some of y'all think it's a problem that needs to be addressed with a ban or a law?

Plumbers have been showing their butt cracks forever but I don't hear a lot of complaining about that. Personally I think baggy pants are less offensive than bra-less big-boobed women slinging those puppies around under tank tops in public. Or lycra bike pants on women who weigh 200 pounds. Or a face full of piercings. Ewww.

The point is, everybody has different tastes about what they like and what they think makes them cool. And I think it's okay for others who don't share their opinion to not like it. But when people think we need laws that define "proper" or acceptable dress, it reminds me of futuristic movies where all the clones are wearing identical garb.

Hmmm... Ok.. I googled "Atlanta Saggy Pants". Interesting reading..

The city of Atlanta has NOT banned saggy pants. The school system has. A big difference there.

I agree with the school system. Anything that is a distraction too or for the students needs to be removed.

As for the city....

Well here: I want to quote a young lady's words;

"Legislation that would penalize someone for wearing sagging pants is blatant assault on a person's freedom of expression. A person's choice of clothing - and how they wear that clothing - is a right with which every American is endowed. An attempt to restrict such expression would be like robbing the flag of its stars."

The above was written by a young journalist named Maggie Good writing for the RedAndBlack.com, a student paper at the University Of Georgia.

This is as bad as the sex toy ban! The government has no right to regulate what I do in the bedroom just as much as they have no right to determine what kind of pants I wear! I understand have indecency laws, no g-strings in public of course, but this law says you wear baggy pants not that you can't let your butt crack hang out.

I havn't read this law, maybe it is worded in such a way that it is simply putting a law against your booty hanging out, but I sure hope people are being careful in how they word this because it is coming very close to infringing on our rights.

When they are wearing them out in public and showing ME their butt crack then it becomes my business. If they want to wear them in their bedroom so be it. You CANNOT compare the sex toy ban to this law.

Also hoodlums and rap music are what started this trend with their bad language, racial slurs and talking about killing cops. It is not cool to wear baggy pants to conceal weapons or narcotics. Get a clue!

I am an older college student at Bishop. The other day while I was leaving one of my classes... I looked into the teacher parking lot where I have to walk to get to my next class... and there were a group of boys, one of which was bent over a car talking to somone with ALL of his underwear showing. I think it should definately be a law where you cannot show your undergarments in public... it is rediculous!!! I don't care to see your behind or your underwhere.. I am glad I didnt have a couple of my kids with me. I think it is terrible that I should have had to see all of that... I am going to complain to the dean of students and the school ... to see about making it school policy to ban this practice.....

My understanding is the fad of the saggy baggy pants actually came from prisons, thats how "available" men advertised to others who were looking for sex..I wonder if these people who walk around like this have ever wondered where this comes from..
Personally I think its stupid and dumpy looking. When I see these people walking spraddle legged and having to hold up thier pants with thier hands just so they can walk and not trip themselves..Makes you just want to yell....PULL UP YOUR DARN PANTS!!!
