Maybe it’s just me, but I think it is inappropriate to mark the site of a fatal accident with crosses. They don’t keep accidents from happening. They are inconvenient for county workers to work around as they mow and otherwise try to keep our roadways clean. I too have lost loved ones, but I choose to grieve in private or visit the cemetary. That is the appropriate place for such things.

well i think maybe some people cant just get over thing like you can, i know where a cross is that has been there for almost 10 years now, and i still go there to look at it and i know his family still goes there too. i (personally) don’t think that they are that big of a problem, BUT THAT I JUST WHAT “I” THINK

I never said getting over the loss of a loved one was easy or even possible. I just think there is a time and place for everything. Cemeteries are where a loved one is buried and has a memorial. I would like to get more opinions, though. And, by the way, you definitly have a right to your opinion as well as I do.

Each time i see a cross on the roadway i say a little prayer for the family. the cross may have been there a day or 10 years it dosen’t matter, i know the family still misses their loved one.
i personally feel, as well as my husband, that by others seeing the cross that it will hopefully make others THINK about the consequiences of their driving irradically, not paying attention to the road etc.
i do realize it’s a bit of a hardship for the workers, but i hope they treat each and everyone like it were their loved one being remembered.

Yes, I too, stop and say a prayer for the family.  I also think more about my driving.  The crosses are a good reminder that every time we enter the highway we are putting our life in the hands of everyone sharing the road with us.  Do you know what the person just smoked or had to drink before he or she put the key in the ignition?  I don’t.  But maybe the cross will make me a little more cautious and on the look out for the person talking on the phone, putting on make-up or reading the newspaper.  Remember what the cross stands for, loss.

The crosses symbolize a loved ones loss. I think it makes people realize and think twice about their driving.
