Just for those that are not aware...I am the sister of the firefigther that was injured in the boating accident on Thursday...He was injured and was sent to the ER but later released. I think that everyone should stop pointing fingers at everyone that they say did wrong...instead why dont we honor the ones that risked their lives for others? If it had not been for my brother, would this little boy still be alive? From my understanding the answer to that would be NO....dont cast judgement because YOU were not there and you have no idea how you would have re-acted in a situation like that! He did what he was supposed to do and that is to focus his attention on this child.
We are VERY proud of him and we commend him for a job well done!
He was burned from the gas that was in the water BUT never once let that stop him from helping this little boy!

Dont pass judgement....instead commend those that put their lives at risk everyday to save lives of others

Boys - Young Adults - Young Men - No matter what title you decide to give these 5 injured people on the boat, they are all someone's son, brother, grandson, father, nephew, uncle, etc; this includes the injured EMT. They are all loved by someone, and are very important to their families. So what difference does it make what name they are called? It is my understanding that the EMT was the only person that was treated and released from the hospital. I'm not negating his injuries by any means. In his chosen line of work, he deals with horrific things everyday. I'm so glad there are people like him, that choose to do what he does!
All I know for sure is that I received one of the worse phone calls every on Friday. Believing that my sister was telling the truth and my nephew was really okay, but not knowing for sure - because I can't see for myself what condition he is really in. When I heard about his injuries I was shocked, when I heard about the terrible injuries of the others on the boat - I was in total disbelief! All I could think of was that I needed to get to Alabama now, but that wouldn't do any good - he was already headed for surgery! The questions, the worry - about him and the others, that poor little boy, oh God! These boys will live with this for the rest of their lives. They not only have to deal with their bodily injuries, but now the wondering is starting - maybe we should have done this or that, things would have been different." It was a terrible accident, so stop blaming them and looking for reasons they were at fault for this! I just wish I could be there to give him a hug, talking to him on the phone just is not the same. This could have been so bad, so terrible and in my opinion so totally unnecessary . . . is the cost of lighting this dangerous area worth the cost - to everyone involved? I don't think so!

I agree with you 100% ....we should ALL be thankful that the injuries were not fatal for any of the ones that were in the accident!
I am and have been praying for the little boy (I am a mother of 2 boys) and when I was told about the accident I immediately stopped what I was doing a said a prayer for all the injured ...BUT more so for the little boy that was involved! It is hard when a child is involved!
Please know that me and my family continue to pray for him! And know that God will guide him and protect him!
Is he doing better? What is his condition?
