I am ONE who has ALWAYS doubted that Mobile would "win" the Multi Billion Plane contract, no matter WHO had the best aircraft. I am a native of Washington State and
grew up in a political family. My education in Political Science and 20 years in the Navy
I believe contributes to MT VIEW as to HOW THINGS ARE DONE.

1. The Democrats Control Congress and I as a Republican do NOT believe that will
change in November. GAO people KNOW who has the clout and will not cross them
NO MATTER what Northrop/Grumman... offers. Air force has had their Political
problems and will also GET THE MESSAGE.

2. Alabama WILL NOT vote Democrat and the Democrats NEED Washington State.

3. ONE POINT someone SHOULD be talking about. Right now Boeing is the ONLY
Aircraft Company that COULD build the tanker, HOWEVER they would/will build
the fuselage and then ALL the GUTS and ASSESORIES will come abroad...for
the MOST PART CHINA. Boeing is NOT going to be any more AMERICAN
built then Northrop.

a. A PLANT developed in Mobile would give the USA TWO companies instead of
ONE......GEE....that might help National Defense

b.My brother in law in Washington for YEARS made HI TECH MACHINE SHOP
items for Boeing. NOW China sells Boeing FINISHED COMPOTENTS for
LESS than he can buy the ALUMINUM. That's Free Trade?

MOBILE is not the ONLY place that needs this contract. Our National Defense demands it......HOWEVER political POWER is more important today. Pushing the 80 mark I would love to be wrong on this one.BUT I fear I will not be...ED NUGENT SR.

But now the door is open for a Northrop / Boeing Tanker.

usnstoryteller,

Thank you for your post. It was very informative. I am going to cut and paste this to Kansas.com-a Wichita based paper with a discussion board, that is very pro-Boeing. Trying to set them straight. Hope you don't mind.
