Let's ask former Mayor James Nix to come out of retirement and take back his old job (pretty please?)! He has the business degrees to run both gov. and utilities at the same time. Then Mr. Kant could take his old job back --public works director-- he was so good at. We ought to keep the current director(Jennie Fidler) on board too, since she's done a good job in difficult times(she's a cutie too! ) Then we can all just get back to keeping Fairhope, Fairhope. Can't everybody just get along? :cheese:

Wow, if you really don't like it here, Greyhound is ready when you are. Mayor Kant has done a great job with this city. You can earn a wall of certificates and degrees, and still not have the common sense God gave a goat to get out of the rain. I'm just saying, degrees don't make the leader.

The Fairhope I grew up with for fifty four years is gone. I know where Greyhound is and believe me I will be taking it soon because this town has become the biggest joke in the South.

the bfa would like to apologize for the ugly things she said on June 15 about Fairhope. It was not called for and I am sorry for saying such things. Had I went back sooner and read it I would have apologized sooner. A bad day is not an excuse for bad manners. BFA

bringing nix back would be the worst mistake, kind of like bringing regan back. a few thought it was a great time most suffered the consequences. nix ran roughshod over the council and city employees alike. time ahs passed and we seem to forget the bad parts but life under Nix was pure He** for local residents. his power and control over the utility department, the city's main source of revenue since there is no city property tax, even on the non colony parts of town, was the utilities, and since nix controlled the utilities and the main source of revenue well you fiure it out. its taken eight years to disassemble this little fiefdom, he ran for twenty, and seperating the mayor from the director of utilities is a step in the right direction.

i would like to see utility rates set to the actual cost of providing the service, plus a SMALL percentage for administratin and maintance of infrastructure. i hate to see that i am paying for my electric service and also for those christmas lights that stay up half the year downtown. if the merchants want them, fine, let them pay for them, i just dont want my electric bill to have to cover that extravagance.
