Question:Have you ever been to the Atmore Alabama poarch creek indian reservation?If so,it may have been during the thanksgiving pow wow,which to me is just an over glorified fleamarket..have you ever wondered how things work in their government?If you have a pc just go to their website and read how it works,or suppose to work.I am a member of the poarch creek indians,I do not live on the reservation but my mother does.have you ever wondered what happens to the moneys they get from the federal goverment and money collected from gaming and their enterprises.you would think that wow all them indians really live good...on other reservations they do.if you are registered american native indian living on a reservation else where in the USA,you will get a monthly check either from the federal government or from the reservation,on the poarch creek indian reservation,if you live on it,you pay rent or reduced rent depending on your income,disability,retirement or other income,you pay for medical and dental the full price or a reduced rate depending on income,no matter if it is medicade,disability,SSI,veterans.. you pay.If you live on the reservation in housing you have no say in what happens on the property,in other words they can come in to your living room and through your funiture in the middle of the street and there is nothing you can do about it because you live in a nation within a nation with their own government,laws,rules,regulations and policies,they even have their own police force,fire department and so forth,even the FBI or other law enforcement agencies cannot come onto the reservation without their permission.It does not take a person with 20/20 eye sight to see what happens on the reservation,all you have to do is just listen to the people that live there.The government on the reservation spends millions of dallars a year on gaming,their own personal and other enterprises and just $900.00 a year on the members outside their circle.with the money that goes to the reservation every member should be a millionaire,but they are not,with a little time spent on the reservation,you can plainly see WHO HAS and WHO HAS NOT,with payoffs to the people from the federal gov.that inspects and other big business like the multi million dallar casino,our politicians is going to get super rich.All that I am asking is Please someone help my people....BR

Never think that other reservations are better off. Some maybe. The government signed treaties to take care of the Indians after taking their land for the white man. They are the only group of people that has a special bureau of government making laws for them, deciding how much money they will have for health needs and where their land will began and end. They weren't even allow to vote until the mid 1920's. Yes, something needs to be done for the Indians but most people don't even realize they are there. There's the minority to worry about you know. I will always be pride of my Indian blood.
