I see that Fairhope is getting one of these stores. The ones I have been in are very, very nice and huge! I wonder if the chain will spread into Mobile County.

Where did you hear Fairhope is getting a Publix? I moved here from Atlanta and they,along with Kroger, are the major grocery store there.I LOVE Publix. They have a deli that makes great subs and have awesome fried chicken. I live in Mobile and would almost literally give my right arm to have a Publix here!!

I also heard that Publix is coming to Fairhope...but don't get too excited. Most everything here is mediocre compared to the same store in other places. For some reason, we accept mediocrity here. Atlanta far surpasses Mobile in just about every aspect... except for crime...I think Mobile is going to surpass Atlanta in that area.

I heard we are getting one as well!! How is it compared to Fresh Market in Mobile?? I hope it is close to it because I love Fresh market!!

Fresh market is more expensive and they have more eclectic type foods. Publix is just a grocery store like winn dixie,BUT it is so much nicer and cleaner.Their deli food is much better and fresh. I'd drive to Fairhope to get a Publix sub!!!!

Razor I definitely agree with you on the crime thing. The thing about ATL is that the crime is in specific areas of the city and specific areas of the 'burbs so you know where the nice,safe places are to live and work. Here in Mobile, the crime seems to be *everywhere*! That is what scares me.
